Responsive & Inclusive Student Engagement - RISE
Ventura College’s RISE Project serves as a learning community that focuses on our current students and new challenges they are facing. It allows faculty to reflect on why we do what we do in the classroom, how it directly impacts our students, and what changes faculty would want to make to their classroom to better serve our current students. The cohort provides a safe and welcoming space to engage in challenging conversations about pedagogy, inclusivity, culture and identity, and our role as educators.
This project is funded through the Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practices Grant, the aim of which is to continue the college’s successful progress toward understanding educators’ contributions to closing achievement gaps and addressing the direct impact that classroom and curriculum have on student learning.
