Activities in Math Classes My Students Love

Presented by Ryan Petitfils

In this workshop, I will be sharing hands-on, interactive, and group-based activities that I have gathered over the years which my Ventura College students love!  These activities were chosen specifically for engagement, student-centeredness, and for community building in the classroom.  I have used them multiple times and in various classrooms of diverse students.  Topics covered vary from Intermediate Algebra through Calculus with various applications to STEM fields. The activities include, but are not limited to, linear modeling in the desert, the spread of disease game, function aerobics, the plus/minus/multiply/divide review game, mathematical skits and more!  We will go through the activities together, you will get a copy of each activity to take home with you, and with the remaining time, have a short sharing session.  If you have an activity that your students absolutely LOVE that promotes engagement, student-centeredness, and/or community building share it here!
