Admissions and Records is responsible for the certification of GI® Bill education benefits to VA.

Attention current students using GI Bill® benefits:

On December 21, 2021, President Biden signed the Responsible Education Mitigating Options and Technical Extensions Act or the REMOTE Act into law

Section two of this law extends the various COVID-19 protections for GI Bill® students from December 21, 2021, to June 1, 2022. In part, this means that students who were attending a course that was converted to online training because of COVID-19, and were getting paid the resident rate, may continue to train online, and will continue to receive the resident housing rate until June 1, 2022.

Courses that were originally intended as face-to-face offerings will continue to be certified as resident courses, regardless of a planned or subsequent transition to online distance education due to COVID-19.

Courses that were originally scheduled as online will be certified as distance education courses.

To receive maximum basic housing allowance payments, students must not be registered in only classes originally scheduled as online.

Students must be registered in at least one course that is not on the lists above.

VA recently issued a news release extending debt relief to Veterans through the end of the year. The full release can be found here. Collection actions on Veteran debts owed to VA under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Treasury Department remain suspended through the end of 2020.
