Enroll Directly into Transfer-level Math Classes
Ventura College provides you with many support opportunities to help you succeed in the math classes required for your degree. You can do it!
Ventura College offers support courses for all first level transfer math courses. Additionally, Ventura College has a robust Tutoring Center, available free to all students, and an embedded tutoring program.
Due to Assembly Bill 705 and Assembly Bill 1705, students enroll directly into transfer level math courses that apply to their degree and transfer requirements, with or without co-requisite support.
A Brief History of AB 705 and AB 1705
In October 2017, the California legislature unanimously passed Assembly Bill 705 to eliminate math placement tests and ensure students have the right to enter and complete transfer-level classes within their first year in college.
In September 2022, the California legislature passed Assembly Bill 1705 to address “issues underlying inequitable and uneven implementation of AB 705 and supports the system’s work to ensure that placement systems and curricular structures are designed to produce strong and equitable placement and completion outcomes.”
