Online Counseling

Welcome to Ventura College’s Online General Counseling!  

Below are some online options to assist with general counseling such as Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), email, and online video chat with an online general counselor.  Before using these general counseling services, students must have applied to the college and have received a 900 student identification number.  If you need assistance in applying and/or obtaining a 900 number please contact the student connect center.

Note: If you are unable to register for a class due to lacking a prerequisite, please visit the steps to requesting clearance of a prerequisite.

Online General Counseling Options

Option 1 – FAQs:  We maintain Frequently Asked Questions on our Academic Counseling pages which answer many commonly asked questions.
Option 2 - Email Questions:  You can submit an email inquiry via our online counseling form. The response time can vary due to demand.  It is also possible that you will be advised to attend an on campus session or an online session.
Option 3 - Online Video Chat “Drop By”: The online “drop by” option is available when the Cranium Café status light (below) is green.  Sessions last 5 - 10 minutes and answer quick questions about Academic Programs; Certificates; Academic Overload Petitions; High Unit Major Exceptions; Course Repetition Requests; CSU Transfer; IGETC Certifications; and One Semester Ed Plans.

Option 4 - Online Video Chat Appointment: You can also schedule a 45 minute online video chat session using Cranium Café by clicking the “schedule appointment” button on the counselor’s card below. This is an online general counseling appointment that includes all services in Option 3 and additional services such as: academic, career, transfer, and personal counseling.  After scheduling an appointment, you will receive an email with a link to the session and a confirmation of your appointment.  Please add the appointment to your calendar and test the meeting link with your equipment prior to accessing Cranium Café.

Methods for Using Cranium Café: 

  • For PC Desktops or PC Laptops: Use Google Chrome (Currently the MacBook is not supported.)
  • For Mobile Devices: Use ConexED App for iPhone or iPad; Use Google Chrome for Android phones and tablet
