Academic Counseling

Complete the MAP (My Academic Plan) Workshop prior to meeting with a counselor. MAP Workshops are an opportunity for all new students at Ventura College to learn about various educational pathways available to them and learn how to select courses for their first semester based on their goal.

To complete the MAP workshop, please follow the steps below:

1. Have an admissions application for the semester you will start at VC
2. Have access to your MyVCCCD student portal
3. Submit official transcripts (high school, AP scores and/or other colleges/universities you attended) to Admissions and Records to assist with prerequisite clearances and/or to receive appropriate college credit
4. Complete the Online Orientation
5. Complete the My Academic Plan (MAP) workshop at Ventura College online. Enroll in MAP (My Academic Plan) Workshop.
6. Call us at 805-289-6448 to book an appointment with a counselor to review your education plan.

Students can meet with a counselor during a scheduled 45-minute appointment, call for same day drop-in counseling or email us if your question does not require an immediate response. Drop-in counseling is strictly over the phone and is only for quick 5-10 minute services like one semester education plans, requests for academic overload or an evaluation of external transcripts. For any other services like financial aid appeals, comprehensive education plans and transfer counseling, please schedule an appointment.

If you have previously attended Ventura, Oxnard or Moorpark College and want to take classes again, please update your information by submitting a new admission application prior to meeting with a counselor.
