Welcome, Faculty!
We are glad you are here. This page provides everything you need to know about requesting an embedded tutor for your class.
Below, you will find an overview of our program, key dates, general guidelines, and the embedded tutor request form.
What is the goal of Embedded tutoring?
The goal of embedded tutoring is to enhance student learning and academic success by providing timely and targeted assistance in the classroom. Embedded tutoring strives to promote a supportive learning environment that helps bridge the gap between students' understanding and the course requirements.
Who are the Embedded Tutors?
Embedded tutors serve as an additional resource for students both inside and outside of the classroom, enhancing student engagement. They assist students in reinforcing course material, clarifying concepts, and promoting a deeper understanding of the subject matter. To further support student learning, embedded tutors also hold a one-hour tutoring session once or twice per week.

Faculty Role in Embedded Tutoring

General Guidelines
All embedded tutor placements are dependent on tutor availability each semester. Faculty teaching Gateway courses will receive priority consideration, and for science courses, priority will be given to classes with historically low success rates.
If demand exceeds our capacity, we may be limited to assigning two embedded tutors to faculty who have previously participated in the embedded tutor program, and one embedded tutor for new faculty joining our program. To help us build a strong embedded tutor team, we encourage faculty to recommend potential tutors who have demonstrated strong academic skills.

All embedded tutor requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis to ensure equitable support across disciplines.
