The Ventura College Promise

YOUR FIRST YEAR FREE AT VC.

The Ventura College (VC) Promise pairs the CA College state Promise with private dollars raised in Ventura County to cover the cost of VC enrollment and other fees for the 1st year of students that meet the eligibility requirements listed below on a first-come, first-served basis.

To be eligible students must:

  • Have completed the FAFSA or California Dream Act Application

  • Have completed the VC Admissions Application

  • Be a first-time college student

  • Have completed the new student requirements including the online orientation, math & English assessments, and an abbreviated educational plan with your counselor.

  • Be a California resident or AB540 exempt

  • Enroll full time* (12+ units) (Exception to rule below)

  • Have graduated from a Ventura County high school or earned GED

  • Submit an information release form through the student portal

 

*First-time students who enroll part time will be covered by the VC Promise as long as they have just graduated from a Ventura County high school or earned a GED in the most previous academic year and are under the age of 20.

WILLIAM & HELEN SCARPINO VETERANS PROMISE

The VCF William and Helen Scarpino Veterans Promise pairs the CA College state Promise with private dollars raised in Ventura County to cover the cost of VC enrollment and other fees for the 1st year of U.S. Veteran and U.S. Active Duty military students who meet the eligibility requirements listed below on a first-come, first-served basis. The Program allows students to reserve their GI Bill® for four-year university education.

To be eligible students must:

  • Have completed a FAFSA application

  • Have completed the VC Admissions Application

  • Be a first-time Ventura College student

  • Have completed the new student requirements including the online orientation, math & English assessments, and an abbreviated educational plan with your counselor.

  • Be U.S. Active Duty or U.S. Veteran (includes National Guard);
  • Be honorably discharged (if U.S. Veteran); AND

  • Not currently be using G.I. Bill® benefits

  • Submit an information release form through the student portal
