Who can take classes at Ventura College? Anyone!

Ventura College welcomes all students, regardless of their immigration status, and we are committed to fully supporting all of our students in their educational journey. Each course offered by the Ventura County Community College District and its colleges is open to enrollment and participation by any person who has been admitted to the college and who meets the prerequisites to the class or program, unless specifically exempted by statute.

Steps to Enroll - What type of student are you?

NEW - I have never attended Ventura College

APPLY

ORIENTATION & ASSESSMENT

  • Complete the orientation online through your MyVCCCD portal under the MySuccess tab
  • Submit official high school or college transcript to Admissions & Records
  • Visit Assessment for the latest English & math placement information
  • Dream Act Students: ​Submit a completed AB 540 Affidavit to Admissions & Records for evaluation
  • All Veteran or Active Duty Students: ​Show your DD214 or Military ID to Admissions & Records​
    • Veteran Students using GI Bill® benefits​Submit your Certificate of Eligibility to Admissions & Records
    • ​Active Duty Students using Tuition Assistance: ​Submit your TA approval to the Student Business Office  

PLAN YOUR CLASSES

  • Schedule a Group Counseling Session to develop a 1st semester educational plan

  • Follow up with counseling to talk about your educational goals and develop a comprehensive Student Education Plan (SEP)

REGISTER

  • Register for classes through your MyVCCCD portal under the Register/Pay tab
  • Check your financial aid awards through your MyVCCCD portal under the Financial Aid tab
  • Pay fees (if no award is listed) or set up a payment plan
    • Veteran Students using GI Bill® benefits: ​Speak to Admission & Records prior to paying any fees
    • Active Duty Students using Tuition Assistance: ​Speak to the Student Business Office prior to paying any fees  

RETURNING - I have not attended Ventura College in over a year

TRANSFER - I have taken college courses at another institution

DUAL ENROLLMENT - I am in high school and want to take college classes

APPLY

  • Students age 13 and up: Apply for admissions to Ventura College
  • Activate your MyVCCCD student portal after your acceptance email is received
  • Complete the Recommendation for Dual Enrollment & Memorandum of Understanding with your principal/designee and parent/guardian
  • Obtain an unofficial high school transcript
  • Submit your completed Recommendation for Dual Enrollment, Memorandum of Understanding, and unofficial high school transcript to Admissions & Records for approval
    • Homeschool Students: ​Submit Private School Affidavit to Admission & Records
  • Clear prerequisites with a Ventura College counselor   

REGISTER

  • Register for classes that were approved on your Recommendation for Dual Enrollment through your MyVCCCD portal under the Register/Pay tab
    • Students 8th grade and lower: ​Submit written permission from the college instructor prior to registering
  • Students enrolled as dual enrollment students are exempt from paying enrollment fees - All other fees apply

INTERNATIONAL - I want attend Ventura College on an F-1 Visa

  • Complete the International Student Application
  • Complete the Foreign Student Agreement
  • Pay the $50 non-refundable application fee - Mail a money order or cashier's check payable to Ventura College or complete the Credit Card Authorization Form
  • Complete the Affidavit of Support Form
  • Provide a copy your sponsor's most recent bank statement showing you have sufficient funds to pay tuition, fees, and living expenses for on year's estimated cost of 23,000 USD
  • Submit an official copy letter from a bank official confirming your sponsor's financial standing and access to funds in the amount of 23,000 USD
  • Provide a copy of your passport
  • Submit proof of English proficiency - Official test scores and transcripts must be mailed directly to Ventura College from the issuing institution
  • Submit official transcripts and diploma from your secondary school and all colleges and universities - Official transcripts must be mailed directly to Ventura College from the issuing institution
  • Provide a letter in English describing your previous education, special interests, reason for apply to Ventura College, your intended major, and your educational goals after completing your studies
  • Submit a letter of reference from a school instructor, administrator, or employer
  • Transfer Students from another US institution:​ Submit a transfer clearance from completed by the school you are currently attending
  • Transfer Students from another US institution:​ Submit a copy of your current I-20
  • Transfer Students from another US institution:​ Submit a copy of your visa page
  • Transfer Students from another US institution:​ Submit a copy of your I-94
