Ventura College Student Emergency Grant (VCSEG)
The Ventura College Student Emergency Grant (VCSEG) provides short-term financial assistance to students experiencing an unexpected emergency or crisis that could impact their ability to remain enrolled.
Funding is limited, not guaranteed, and may only be awarded once per academic year.

Eligibility
To qualify, you must meet all of the following:
- Have a completed FAFSA or CADAA on file.
- Be enrolled in at least 12 units (exceptions may apply).
- Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
- Provide documentation of an emergency dated within the last 30 days.
- Be actively participating in one of the following programs:
- Basic Needs Center
- NextUp
- Veterans Resource Center
Participation will be verified directly by the program before funds are awarded.
What Can Be Covered?
The VCSEG may assist with emergencies such as:
- Medical – illness, hospitalization, medical expenses not covered by insurance.
- Auto – car repair due to accident or unforeseen issue.
- Housing – eviction, unsafe, or temporary housing.
- Other emergencies – unexpected crisis affecting your ability to stay enrolled.
Required Documentation
- Medical: bill or invoice from healthcare provider.
- Auto: repair estimate or invoice from licensed shop.
- Housing: eviction notice and current rental agreement.
- Other: documentation clearly showing the nature of the emergency.
Documentation must be dated within 30 days of your application.
Award Amounts
- Award amounts vary depending on need, documentation, and available funds.
- Students may receive only one award per academic year.
Jordana Ybarra-Telias Emergency Grant
The Jordana Ybarra-Telias Emergency Grant, established in memory of Jordana Ybarra-Telias, provides additional support to students facing critical financial hardships.
This fund shares the same application process and eligibility requirements as the VCSEG and is awarded through the same review process. Students do not need to submit a separate application.
How it works:
- Complete the VCSEG Request Form.
- The Financial Aid Office will review your application for eligibility and determine whether you may receive funding through the VCSEG, the Jordana Ybarra-Telias Emergency Grant, or both (depending on available funding and your situation).
Application Process
- Complete and submit the VCSEG Request Form with all required documentation.
- Applications are reviewed by the Financial Aid Office and the supporting program (Basic Needs, NextUp, or Veterans).
- If approved, funds are issued through BankMobile Disbursements. To select your refund preference, visit BankMobile.
- Please allow 7–21 days for processing and disbursement after approval.

Student Responsibilities

- Funding is limited and not guaranteed.
- The grant is intended for short-term, one-time emergencies only, not ongoing financial needs.
- Only one grant per academic year may be awarded.
