STEM Counselors are available to support and plan out your academic and professional goals. We invite you to meet with them at least twice per semester (once in the first few weeks and once in the last few weeks of each semester) to receive guidance and support with your plans. STEM student academic journeys are unique. Therefore, a STEM Counselor can assist you with selecting your academic major, exploring transfer options, and developing a plan to achieve your educational goals. Additionally, STEM Counselors can support you with completing forms, transfer applications, and more.

Updates Fall 2025
Drop for Non-Payment: What you Need to Know
Students are required to pay their fees upon registration or set up a payment plan. A student who has not paid their fees or set up a payment plan may be dropped from their classes. Students have up to 7 days to pay their balance to avoid being dropped for nonpayment. Once the class has started, students will have 1 day to pay for their classes.
The drop for nonpayment process only considers enrollment fees (per unit charge and non-resident tuition) when making that determination. Students who only owe miscellaneous fees will not be dropped.
Unpaid Fees: Students with an unpaid balance from prior semesters must pay their balance. Unpaid balances from previous semesters may prevent you from registering for classes for the upcoming semester.
Exemptions: Students meeting any of the following criteria are exempt:
- Active payment plan
- Dual enrollment students (K–12)
- Receiving financial aid
- Verified military connected students using GI Bill benefit
Important Actions to Avoid Being Dropped:
- Pay your enrollment fees in full upon registration
- Set up a payment plan through the MyVCCCD student portal or contact the Student Business Office
- Ensure any financial aid or other exemptions are in place and active. Learn more about Paying for College
Important Changes Regarding Math Pathways
Important Course Changes Starting Fall 2025
Common Course Numbering Beginning Fall 2025, California Community Colleges are adopting a Common Course Numbering (CCN) system. This means that courses with the same content will now have the same number across all community colleges in the state, making it easier to transfer and understand course equivalencies. Several Ventura College courses will be getting new numbers as part of this change.
Why This Matters:
Simpler Planning: You’ll know exactly which course to take—even if you're attending more than one college.
Important Course Changes Starting Fall 2025
Chemistry (CHEM) Course Numbering: Starting Fall 2025, Chemistry classes that include both a lecture and a lab will be offered as one combined course with a single CRN (course number). This change makes it easier to enroll—no more signing up for lecture and lab separately—and helps our courses match statewide standards. To reflect this update, some chemistry course numbers have been changed, as shown below.
Questions? Please call 805-289-6448 if you have questions about these changes or how they affect your educational plan or make an appointment online through Starfish.
