The English Department at Ventura College helps students strengthen their writing, research, and critical thinking skills. Our courses support students at every stage: from completing college and transfer requirements to exploring literature, creative writing, film, and other areas of study.

Students can earn an Associate Degree for Transfer in English or explore our Creative Writing Certificate of Achievement, a 19-unit program featuring courses in fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, screenwriting, and more.

English students develop skills that prepare them for university study and careers in education, writing and publishing, media, communications, business, law, public service, and other fields.

The department also supports the English Club of Ventura College with their publication VC Voices, an online publication showcasing student writing and creative work from across Ventura College.
