Ocean Therapy for Veterans

Please join us for a unique therapeutic surfing experience designed specifically for veterans. The Jimmy Miller Memorial Foundation (JMMF) is a global leader in supporting veterans' healing from trauma related mental and physical challenges through its Ocean Therapy Program. 

Friday, May 1, 2026 9:30 am - 12:30 pm
Location: Ventura, California

Participants must RSVP. The Ventura College Veterans Resource Center will confirm your registration. 

We've got you covered:

  • Wetsuits
  • Booties

What to bring:

  • Bathing Suit
  • Towel
  • Positive Attitude
  • Change of warm clothes

Session Schedule

  • 9:30 am Meet on the beach-at the JMMF tents
  • 10:00 Wetsuits - put on
  • 10:15 Group Discussion-Each participant is assigned their 'team' (instructor and Water Safety) and then circle up on beach. Discussion, safety talk, stretch.
  • 11:00 Land & In-water surf lessions
  • 12:00 Gather - and return equipment, remove wetsuits and rashguards/change.
  • 12:15 Closing Circle - lunch is served
  • 12:30 Cleanup & Departure - no trash left behind

Veteran Student Support Group

The Veteran Student Support Group has been cancelled for the remainder of the Spring 2026 term.

We appreciate the interest and participation from our student veterans. Please continue to check back for future support group offerings and wellness related resources through the Veterans Resource Center.

REINS of H.O.P.E.

ROH provides the military-connected community with free mental health services. This program allows service members to gather and receive "hands-on assistance” with horses, which helps in working through emotional barriers. They provide a safe space for our veterans through interactions filled with acceptance. 

ROH hosts the following monthly support groups:

  • General Support Group: Veterans and first responders – 4th Wednesday of each month, 4:00–6:00 p.m.
  • Women’s Support Group: Female veterans and first responders – 2nd Wednesday of each month, 4:00–6:00 p.m.
