ABOUT FOSTER & KINSHIP CARE EDUCATION (FKCE)

The Ventura College Foster and Kinship Care Education Program provides quality education and support activities to the caregivers of children and youth in out-of-home care so that these providers may meet the educational, emotional, behavioral and developmental needs of children and youth.

Classes are provided in both English & Spanish, at NO COST for anyone wanting to attend. In all classes, first priority will go to Foster Parents and Kinship Providers*, now referred to as Resource Parents.
*Kinship refers to families raising relative's children, either through an informal arrangement or formal (court) arrangement.

CPR & FIRST AID CLASSES

We will be offering CPR and First Aid Recertification classes in person. September and October CPR/First Aid classes will be held before the vaccine mandate and the November classes will take place after the deadline. 

 

ADULT & PEDIATRIC CPR *RECERTIFICATION CLASSES* 

*Participants must already possess a valid CPR and/or First Aid Card and need RENEWAL.  

Priority goes to Ventura County Resource Families. Class size is limited. Online Registration in advance is required.

Esperamos que todos tuvieron un verano seguro y tranquilo.  Nos complace estar de vuelta para apoyarlos mientras nos embarcamos en otra nueva temporada de desafíos e incertidumbre juntos.

Como ya sabrá, el Distrito de Colegios Comunitarios del Condado de Ventura aprobó recientemente las vacunas obligatorias contra el Covid-19.  Estamos procediendo con la deliberación a medida que evaluamos cómo eso afectará las actividades en persona para nuestro programa.  En este momento, la mayor parte de nuestras clases continuará a través de Zoom.

Criando un niño/a que fue abusado sexualmente

Esta nueva clase está diseñada específicamente para padres adoptivos, cuidadores familiares y personal de hogares grupales como reconocer los signos de abuso sexual y cómo apoyar a los niños/as que han sido perjudicados.

Maneje su Estrés durante los Días Festivos y Apoye a los niños a Través de la Pérdida

Los días festivos no tienen porqué ser un momento de estrés. Únase con nosotros y discuta cómo manejar el estrés de los padres durante los días festivos. También revisaremos el impacto de la pérdida y el dolor en la vida de un niño y por qué es tan importante enseñar a los niños a celebrar sobre todo a ellos mismos en la vida.
