The Sociology degree through the PACE modality is the same Associate degree already offered on the Ventura College campus. Through PACE we have taken the guesswork out of planning your degree and have carefully selected courses, in consultation with the Sociology department, that will meet all requirements for the Associate in Arts in Sociology for Transfer Degree (Sociology AA-T).
Program Purpose
Students graduating from the Sociology program will be able to demonstrate comprehension of the major sociological theories and relevant concepts, the scientific method, the variety and appropriateness of sociological research designs and the application and interpretation of findings from such research. Additionally, students will be able to critically evaluate and apply theoretical concepts to specific cultural phenomenon past and present.
Students with associate degrees in sociology gain skills in research, learning how to conduct studies and analyze social data; critical thinking, developing the ability to think critically about complex social issues; communication, improving your ability to communicate effectively in various professional settings; and understanding human behavior, by gaining insight into social patterns and how they influence individuals.
