Remediation
Remediation may be required as the result of:
- A composite success score below 62% on the TEAS V test
- Repeats in the science courses
- A condition of possible re-entry
There are several pathways of remediation required depending on the cause. For information regarding classes that may be required for remediation of the TEAS test, low science or low overall GPA, please contact one of the nursing counselors. For remediation requirements associated with re-entry contact the School of Nursing. Remediation plans are individualized for each student.
Students will be given a date by which the remediation plan must be completed.
- The nursing counselors will provide the remediation deadline date for TEAS tests taken at another institution with a composite score below 62%. Your application will not be considered until all classes have been completed with a grade of "B" or better. When you complete your remediation, submit all documenting paperwork, such as official transcripts (if courses taken ouside VCCCD), to the nursing counselor at Ventura College. Documents should be clearly marked "Remediation." The length of time for remediation is 2 years starting from the date the student met with the nursing counselor and developed a remediation plan.
- If your score is below 62% on the TEAS V test taken at Ventura College, you will be sent a letter from the Director of the nursing program. You will be advised to meet with the nursing counselor who will outline your individual remediation plan and give you a date by which the plan must be completed. Your application will not be considered until all classes have been completed with a grade of "B" or better. When you complete your remediation, submit all documenting paperwork, such as official transcripts (if courses taken outside VCCCD), to the nursing counselor at Ventura College. Documents should be clearly marked "Remediation." Length of time for remediation is 2 years and the time starts from the date of the letter the student receives indicating remediation is required.
- The nursing counselors will provide remediation deadline dates for low science GPA and low overall GPA. Your application will not be considered until all classes have been completed with a grade of "B" or better. When you complete your remediation, submit all documenting paperwork, such as official transcripts (if courses taken outside VCCCD), to a nursing counselor at Ventura College. Documents should be clearly marked "Remediation." The length of time for remediation is 2 years starting from the date the student met with the nursing counselor and developed a remediation plan.
- The School of Nursing will provide remediation deadline dates for re-entry students. Your re-entry will not be considered until all remediation requirements, and all classes, have been completed with a grade of "B" or better. When you complete your remediation, submit all documenting paperwork to the School of Nursing including official transcripts. Documents should be clearly marked "Remediation." Faculty must approve re-entry and remediation must be complete.
Completion of the remediation process is not a guarantee of admission to the Nursing Program.
