Descriptive title:  The Nursing Process Applied to the Patient with Health Care Deviations II

COURSE STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES _______________________________________________    

            At completion of this course of study the student will be able to:

1.         Integrate the nursing process and Orem's SCDT-N frameworks to provide patient-centered care for   patients

            and families with health deviation self-care requisites in activity and rest, hazards, normalcy, and solitude

            and social interaction in the acute care and community setting.

         2.         Integrate basic conditioning factors in providing care to patients, families and communities.

         3.         Implement evidence based findings for utilization into nursing practice.

         4.         Assist patients in the development and use of self-care agency to their optimum level of wellness in primary,

                     secondary and tertiary settings.

5.         Employ therapeutic interventions when directing the care of pediatric, adult and geriatric patients with

            developmental and health deviation self-care requisites related to activity and rest, hazards,                                           

            normalcy, and solitude and social interaction.

         6.         Demonstrate proficiency in performance of advanced technical and psychosocial nursing skills.

         7.         Demonstrate effective therapeutic communication with patients, families and communities.

         8.         Initiate standardized practices that support safe, quality, patient -centered care.

9.         Engage patients or designated self-care agents in formulating a patient-centered plan of care utilizing the

            nursing process.

         10.      Implement an individualized teaching plan for patients and their families in the acute care and community setting.

         11.      Utilize community resources for patient referral.

         12.      Incorporate health promotion concepts to enhance the self-care agency of patients, families,      

                   communities and the health care provider.

         13.     Document accurately and independently completed nursing care and patient responses to nursing  

                   interventions and medical regimens.

         14.     Collaborate collegially with all members of the health care team to monitor patient safety .

         15.     Create a safe personal practice and a safe health care environment utilizing ethical-legal regulatory

                   frameworks of nursing and standards of professional practice.

         16.     Integrate technology and information management tools to support and monitor safe processes of care.

         17.     Initiate a plan for self development as a team member to foster professional growth and nursing

                  practice competence.
