The current Accreditation Standard IIIA addresses professional development as follows:

IIIA-5: The institution provides all personnel with appropriate opportunities for continued professional development, consistent with the institutional mission and based on identified teaching and learning needs.

a. The institution plans professional development activities to meet the needs of its personnel.
b. With the assistance of the participants, the institution systematically evaluates professional development programs and uses the results of these evaluations as the basis for improvement.

In ongoing support of and documentation for the accreditation process, the Ventura College Staff Development program is committed to staff development by its activities and the coordination of those activities through the annual Staff Development Plan. The college values inclusive and diverse opportunities for staff to advance their professional development. This web site has been created to provide information regarding past, current and future activities of the Staff Development Committee, as well as related Flex and Development activities of departments, divisions and campus groups. Suggestions for professional development activities are welcome.
