Save the Date! Diversity in Culture Festival April 8 and 9

We honor diversity!

Diversity and culture matter at Ventura College. We honor it every day and every year we hold a festival to celebrate it.

Next year’s Diversity in Culture celebration is going to be amazing. We’ll be celebrating our 100th Year Anniversary. The 2026 festival will be held April 8 & 9.

Mission Statement: The Ventura College Diversity in Culture Taskforce is committed to recognize, celebrate, and promote awareness and appreciation of the value of diversity at our college and in our community.

Goals:

  • Provide events or opportunity for diversity.
  • Foster community connections and alliances with community services.
  • Increase/broaden support of the Diversity in Culture Advisory.
  • Use more visual communication to promote diversity- posters, displays, and website.
  • Engage faculty, staff, and students to support and promote diversity.

Irish Harp Music and Culture with Dennis Doyle

10:00-11:15 
Dennis plays the Celtic harp beautifully while he sings and tells stories about Irish culture. More than just a harp concert, this presentation is an entertaining glimpse into Ireland’s history and people. Dennis is a tenured Glendale Community College professor of Humanities who teaches a course in Irish History and Literature. Hosted by Professor Heather Aguilar and Professor Sharon Beynon

Gentle Yoga Session and Sound Baths with Rebekha Wolf 

11:30 am- 12:30 pm
Join Rebekha Wolf as she leads a session of restorative yoga and sound healing to support overall well-being. Hosted by Professor Ken Callahan and Dr. Clare Washington.

Viking Culture with Jaan Calderon 

1:00-2:00pm
Jaan Calderon will interact in the festival village in the morning and then present on the history and culture of the Vikings. Hosted by Professor Stacy Graham.
