Responsibilities for all Veteran and Active Duty Students

  1. In order to receive priority registration, you must complete the Student Success and Support steps and submit your DD214 or military ID to Admissions & Records.

      1. Complete the orientation online through your MyVCCCD Portal under the MySuccess Tab
      2. Visit Assessment for the latest English & math placement information 
      3. Schedule an appointment with the Veteran's academic counselor to develop a 1st semester educational  plan - (805) 289-6060

Responsibilities for Veteran Students Using GI Bill® Benefits

  1. It is your responsibility to turn in the Veterans Request for Certification to Admissions & Records with your current education plan and schedule every semester that you wish to be certified for.
  2. You must have your Certificate of Eligibility or Statement of Benefits turned into Admissions & Records before you will be certified.
  3. You must have your official transcripts from all previous institutions and/or military service turned into Admissions & Records by your second semester before any future certifications can occur.
  4. You will only be certified for classes on your Education Plan.
  5. Any changes to your schedule will be reported to VA by your School Certifying Official and may affect your benefits.
  6. You are financially liable for tuition and fees not covered by VA.
  7. You will not request certification for any college credit course that your have successfully completed at another institution.
  8. You will be in regular attendance for all classes you are certified for.
  9. You will maintain a 2.0 GPA and successfully complete at least 50% of your attempted units to maintain eligibility for GI Bill® Benefits.
  10. You will check your MyVCCCD email regularly for communication regarding your certification.

Responsibilities for Active Duty Students Using Tuition Assistance

  1. It is your responsibility to turn your TA approval to the Student Business Office if the military is to cover your cost of enrollment.
  2. You will maintain a 2.0 GPA and successfully complete at least 50% of your attempted units to maintain eligibility for GI Bill® Benefits.
  3. You will check your MyVCCCD email regularly for communication regarding your certification.
