HIGHLIGHTS for 2008-09
- The Pirates won the WSC Athletic Supremacy Award for their 11th consecutive year.
- The Pirates placed 9th in the NATYCAA Cup.
- Ventura College Men's Athlete of the Year is Danny Benson (basketball) and the Women's Athlete of the Year is Randi Hicks (track and field and volleyball, previous years played basketball).
- Men's Golf finishes in Third Place at the State Championships. Alton Anderson was named 1st Team All SoCal.
- Women's Water Polo won the WSC Title and Alana Altman was named 1st Team All American.
- Men's Water Polo won the WSC Title and Jeremy Allen was named 1st Team All American.
- Women's Basketball won their 19th consecutive WSC Title. Ned Mircetic was named WBCA National Coach of the Year and Michelle Santizo was named WBCA 1st Team All American.
- Men's Basketball won their 2nd consecutive WSC Title. Danny Benson was named All State Honorable Mention.
- Cheerleading won their 2nd consecutive National Championship in the Small College Division and their 4th consecutive State Championship.
- Men's Swimming won their 7th consecutive WSC Title and Women's Swimming won their 3rd Consecutive WSC Title.
- Men's Tennis won their 4th consecutive WSC Title.
- Softball's Sabrina Gonzalez was named WSC Player of the Year.
- Women's Tennis Ashley Litchfield is the Single's State Champion and she won the prestigious Ojai Community College Single's Championship as well. She is the first Pirate to ever win both of these championships.
- Track and Field's Randi Hicks is the State Javelin Champion and the National Javelin Champion.
- Baseball's Garrett Rau was named WSC Golden Glove Best Defensive Player of the Year.
