This month's highlights include: Nathan Cole (Associate Professor, Theatre Arts), Alexander Rock Fredell (Evening and Weekend Attendant), Gabriella Asamsama-Acuña (Registrar), Sammy Zanini (VC Student)
Primary role at the college: Main Campus Evening and Weekend Attendant
Years of Service: 3 Years, 6 Months (counting other previous positions)
Family: I have a Mother who works as a Preschool Teacher in Corcoran, CA, I also have a brother who is living with her while going to school up there. I meanwhile live with the rest of my Large Extended Family in Ventura County.
Hobbies: Listening to, Collecting, and Making Music, Video Production, Making Digital Art, and Playing with new Multimedia Technology. I also like to watch Sports and Movies.
Favorite Food: I love me a good Pizza Pie anytime of the Day, Week, Month, Ye…you get it.
Favorite Movie: My Favorite movie is The Goonies. Never Say Die!
Favorite Song: It’s a Close three-way tie between Turn It On Again by Genesis, God Only Knows by The Beach Boys, and Closer To The Heart by Rush.
Something fun, interesting, and/or unique about you: Currently finishing Two bachelor’s degrees in History and Graphic Design at Cal State Northridge. Also working on a lot of personal projects including A Podcast, A Second Solo Art Exhibition, and Perhaps another Live Electronic Music Performance, just hopefully somewhere more fitting, and not like last time…in an abandoned K-Mart.
Primary Role at The College: Associate Professor of Theatre Arts
Years of Service: I will finish my seventh year as a full-time faculty member this spring.
Family: Single, last of six children.
Hobbies: I am an avid television and movie watcher! If I am awake and at home, the tv is on. I love to travel, garden on my patio, cook, attend cultural events (movies, theatres, museums, art exhibits), hang with friends, and explore new places in LA.
Favorite Food: I’ve never been a picky eater. I am always up for trying a new dish, visiting a new restaurant, or trying a variety of cuisines. However, my go-to for comfort is Mexican food, especially Tex-Mex. I love anything spicy!
Favorite Movie: That’s a difficult question because there are so many! I really love horror movies and thrillers because of the plot twists, it’s fun to be scared, and I really enjoy the escape. I find disaster films especially interesting since they explore the human response to crisis, showing both the best and worst of the human condition. Growing up reading comics, I really enjoy a comic book film. Nonetheless, I will watch just about anything with a strong story and interesting characters.
Something Fun, Interesting, and/or Unique About You: Anyone who spends quality time with me knows my love for all things Wonder Woman!! I have a pretty sizable collection of various items in my home office. Also, I visit Las Vegas about three times a year because it affords me the opportunity to hang out with my bestie of twenty-eight years!
Primary Role at The College: Registrar
Years of Service: 6 months
Family Hobbies: Traveling would be at the top of my list. Whether it is a trip across the ocean or exploring the next town over, traveling is something I enjoy doing with my husband and son. Plus, I love the memories that we are creating as a family.
Favorite Food: Wow, this is a tough question for me. If I had to choose one, it would be a home-cooked meal by the most famous chef that I know, my mother. She makes delicious Indonesian food that cannot be found or replicated anywhere.
Favorite Movies: The Lord of the Rings, Inception, Brave Heart, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Marvel movies, Up, and Lion King (“Believe in yourself and there will come a day when others will have no choice but to believe with you.”).
Favorite Songs: I had to check my Spotify playlist first. My favorite song currently is Harvest Moon by Neil Young. I can always listen to Mumford and Sons, Jack Johnson, The Lumineers, City and Colour, Johnnyswim, Chris Stapleton, Whitney Houston, and Coldplay. There are probably more artists I love to listen to, but I cannot think of them at the moment.
Something Fun, Interesting, and/or Unique About You: Hmmm… I was born in Indonesia and I moved here when I was 8 years old. I speak Bahasa fluently and I am a first-generation immigrant. I have completed two half marathons and would like to do more, but it is hard to train with a 3-year-old. My favorite pastimes include hiking, listening to some good music, taking long walks, biking, discovering new places and restaurants, doing macramé or ceramics, painting, drinking delicious coffee, and cuddling with my son.

Years at Ventura College: 2 Years
Family: I was born and raised in Ventura, CA. My mom’s name is Amy and my dad’s Mike. I also have an older brother named Derek.
Hobbies: When I’m not spending time playing soccer or working at my two jobs, I like to spend my time shopping and laying on the beach.
