Join the Division of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences on October 29 in for Ventura Speaks, a FREE Centennial Celebration filled with discovery, connection, and creativity—from student oral histories to live music and poetry.

Oral History Forum

  • 10 a.m. - Noon
  • Students and faculty present research based on oral histories and local archival materials—bringing community voices and often-forgotten stories to light.
  • Moderator: Michael Ward

Liberal Arts & Public Humanities Initiative Symposium 

  • 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Faculty panels led by Anthony Mansueto
  • Explore the college’s mission and community insights

Centennial Celebration

  • 6 p.m. - 8 p.m.
  • Music by by acclaimed New Zealand musician Mark Menzies,
  • Poetry reading with Luzmaria Espinosa
  • Photography exhibit by Yvette Marthell
  • Honoring of alumna and community leader Ola Washington.
  • Light refreshments
