Emergency Notification & Earthquake Drill

Ventura College will participate in the annual Great California ShakeOut by conducting a test of our emergency notification system on Thursday, October 16. We encourage everyone on campus to participate to help us prepare for a natural disaster. Thank you for your participation!

Drill Timeline:

  • 10:16 a.m. – A notification will be sent to signal the start of the drill. If you're on campus, you’ll hear an announcement over the loudspeakers instructing you to **“Drop, Cover, and Hold On.”** You will also receive an email and a text message.
  • 10:18 a.m. – A second loudspeaker announcement will instruct you to evacuate the building.
  • 10:25 a.m. – A final loudspeaker message will announce “All Clear.” You will also receive an email. If you do not hear the announcements or receive the messages, please still follow the drill schedule as outlined above.
  • Communication systems may be delayed during the ShakeOut.
  • If you're on campus, plan to return to your classroom or office once you receive the “All Clear” message, but no later than 10:30 a.m.
