Program Purpose: Students who complete Architectural courses will acquire information, skills and training in the architectural field. Students completing the Architectural program will acquire the practical knowledge and skills to successfully enter the field of architecture, advance within their current profession or transfer to a university architecture or design program.

Program Description: Training in architecture will prepare one for challenging careers in the architectural profession and its related design and technical fields. Students may obtain an AS, Certificate of Achievement or preparation for advance degrees at institutions of higher learning. Specialized application of various software programs are taught using current technology and methods found in the Architectural and design industries. Career options include Architecture, Architectural Designer, Architectural Illustrator, Architectural Model Maker, Architectural Production Developer, Specification Writer, Construction Manager, Interior Architect, Landscape Architecture and Urban Planner.


What is architecture?

Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and structures. Architectural design is primarily driven by the creative manipulation of mass, space, volume, texture, light, shadow, materials, program, and pragmatic elements such as cost, construction and technology, in order to achieve an end which is aesthetic, functional and often artistic.
