The Tutoring Center is dedicated to providing academic tutorial support for Ventura College students. The Center’s goal is to help make a student’s educational experience a successful one. Drop-in, group and individualized tutoring are available free of charge to all Ventura College students.  Online 24/7 tutoring is available to VC students. https://www.venturacollege.edu/departments/student-services/tutoring/nettutor.

The Tutoring Center is located on the first floor of the  Library and Learning Resources building.

Tutors are Ventura College students,and CSUCI students, who have been recommended by their instructors. Besides helping students with course content, tutors clarify instructions for assignments, help brainstorm ideas for papers and projects, and facilitate the use of strategies for effective study and exam preparation.

How To Request Tutoring Assistance:

Students seeking assistance must be enrolled in the class in which they wish to receive tutoring.

  • Check-in at the front desk
  • Complete IDS Form and Check-In at front desk

Tutors will:

  • Assist the student in reviewing subject material
  • Clarify assignments and help select appropriate study strategies
  • Help students assess their learning styles
  • Encourage independent learning

Tutors will not:

  • Do the work for students
  • Edit papers
  • Tutor outside the Tutoring Center

Tutor Training:
Tutors are full-time VC students who have been recommended by their instructors. Tutors must take the IDS V09 course and attend bi-monthly workshops on collaborative learning.

Mission Statement: The Ventura College Testing Center advances the mission of the College by providing a secure, professional, and accessible testing environment for students, faculty, staff, and community members.  The services we provide demonstrate our commitment to excellence, inclusion, and lifelong learning.

Program Description: The Testing Center has been developed to serve both faculty and students. The Testing Center proctors make-up exams for instructors who have students who are unable to take a scheduled exam; assists the Educational Assistance Center in proctoring exams for students with special needs; and proctors exams for students in the community who are taking distance learning courses. The Testing Center is a member of the National College Testing Association.

The Ventura College Testing Center, located in ELC-1, provides proctoring services for faculty who approve their students to take a make-up examinations. Make-up examinations must be emailed to vctesting@vcccd.edu at least two days before the makeup test is to be taken. Once approved, students must schedule an appointment with the Testing Center. A valid photo ID is required to take a make-up test at the Testing Center. Students and visitors will enter via ELC-2.

Learning Resource Center


The Learning Center "Beach" Computer Lab

The Learning Resource Center computer lab, called the "BEACH," is located on the first floor of the Library & Learning Resource Center. The "BEACH" is an acronym for "Best Educational Access to Computers and Help." The 369 station computer lab serves as a lab for classroom instruction and as an open-access drop-in lab for students. The lab provides instructional support through technology for several academic and vocational disciplines including English, Foreign Language, ESL, Geography, Learning Skills, Math, Nursing, Emergency Medicine, Reading and Study Skills. The Learning Center also supports Ventura College's distance learning program by hosting many of the orientations and exams.
