Step by Step Instructions on how to complete the Ventura College application

• New  - I have never attended college before
• High School Senior - I am graduating High School and I want to take classes 
• Returning -I previously attended MC, OC, or VC and want to take classes again
• Transfer -  I have attended another college/university but am new to MC, OC, or VC
• Dual Enrollment - I am a current high school/middle school student and want to take classes 
• Application Account Recovery Instructions.

Apply for the Ventura College Promise, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the California Dream Act Application (CADAA), which could potentially get your tuition and fees paid for up to two years.

• Noncredit Students: Do not need to apply
• Dual Enrollment Students: Do not need to apply

• Your acceptance email will be sent to the email you used to create your OpenCCC Account when you applied

• Returning Students: Should complete this step as placement measures may have changed with the passage of AB705
• Transfer Students: Should complete this step 
• Noncredit Students: Do not need to complete assessment

Join the First-Semester Course Planning (FCS) Canvas Page to review instructions on how to plan for courses as a new student.

• Transfer students: Visit a counselor for a drop-in appointment to develop a 1^st semester educational plan and request an external coursework evaluation
• Dual enrollment students: Do not need to complete this step

Clear prerequisites

• Prerequisites are enforced for all students
• If you have met the prerequisite for the course outside of Ventura College, you will need to request prerequisite clearance by following the steps on the Prerequisite page.

Follow up with counseling to talk about your educational goals and develop a comprehensive Student Education Plan (SEP)

Student-athletes: Follow up with the Athletics Counselor, by calling (805) 289-6448 and asking for an appointment with the Athletics Counselor 

Veteran or Active Duty Students:  Follow up with Veteran's Counselor by calling (805) 289-6060 

Dual enrollment students: Do not need to complete this step

• Veteran Students using GI Bill^®benefits:  Register for classes on your education plan and submit your Veteran's Agreement & Request for Certification to Admissions & Records

• Dual Enrollment Students: Register for classes that were approved on your Recommendation for Dual Enrollment through your MyVCCCD portal under the Register/Pay tab
  • Students 8^th grade and lower:  Submit written permission from the college instructor prior to registering

Dual Enrollment Students: Complete the Recommendation for Dual Enrollment e-Form with your principal/designee and parent/guardian. This form is automatically routed to Admissions & Records after you click submit
