APPLYING TO THE VENTURA COLLEGE NURSING PROGRAM?

DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS, FALL 2020 (AUGUST 1 TO SEPTEMBER 15, 2020) APPLICANTS NEED TO FOLLOW THIS NURSING APPLICATION PROCESS

All prerequisite courses must be completed (grades posted on transcript)

  • Math V03, V12, or 35(or higher level), Chemistry with lab, Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, and Current CNA certification (or proof student passed the State exam - both written and skills)
    • 2.5 Overall GPA (all colleges attended)
    • 2.5 GPA in Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology
    • No more than one (1) repeat in either Anatomy, Physiology, or Microbiology
  • Official transcripts from all regionally accredited colleges/universities attended must be on file with the Admissions and Records Office prior to completing the Nursing Application Appointment Pre-Screening form to get cleared to schedule an appointment (contact Admission and Records to see if on file) - transcripts from Ventura, Moorpark or Oxnard College not required.  

Official high school transcripts will be required only if using chemistry from high school to apply. 

If official transcripts are not on file, an appointment will not be made.

August 1 - September 15 for the September deadline.
 

  • Applicants need to complete the Nursing Application Appointment Pre-Screening Form. This link (see below) is usually "active" 2 weeks before August 1.  Students complete the online pre-screening form and the form will be delivered to the VC nursing counselors’ inbox for review and clearance to apply. This review can take 3-4 work days.
  • If applicant is considered “eligible to apply”, the nursing counselor will call the applicant after the pre-screening  form has been reviewed to schedule applicant for a counseling appointment to apply. If unable to determine eligibility to apply, you will be contacted through your MyVCCCD email only. Please check your email regularly.
  • Once the appointment is scheduled, the applicant is required to mail (cannot email it or drop it off) their completed Nursing Application and all documentation - in one envelope - to:

  • The nursing application must be received before the counseling appointment. Due to COVID-19 delays in postal service, allow for extra time for your mailed documents to reach Ventura College. If the nursing application is not received by the day and time of the counseling appointment, applicant will be rescheduled (only if appointment slots are available). Incomplete applications will be considered ineligible for the Fall 2020 application period.
  • During the counseling appointment (ZOOM or telephone options available), the application will be verified for meeting the eligibility criteria based on the most recent, up-to-date information provided by applicant. The next steps will be reviewed at this appointment.
  • The last day to submit a prescreening form will be September 4, 2020. It is the student's responsibility to ensure nursing counselors receive the application by the counseling appointment for eligibility consideration.

I understand that any materials that are submitted to the counseling office will become property of Ventura College.

Go online to the Nursing Science webpage and download the Nursing Application.

  • Please read all requirements, complete the Nursing Application and MultiCriteria Screening Supporting Documentation Form, and collect all documentation required for multicriteria before your appointment.
 

Include the following documentation with your completed application:

  • Current California CNA certification (or if you have not received the certification, results from the State exam showing passed both written and skills).
  • Completed Multi-Criteria Screening Supporting Documentation Form - All documentation must be submitted at the time of application. If documentation is not submitted, no multicriteria points can be awarded at the time. 
 

Student will be allowed to schedule the ATI TEAS (Test of Essential Academic Skills) Exam after the Nursing Application has be submitted to a Nursing Counselor (if all qualifying requirements are met).  Dates for the ATI TEAS exam are posted on the Nursing Science Webpage.

  • Student's applying for the Sept 15 application deadline must have the ATI TEAS completed by October 1.
