Ventura College Theatre presents Dracula, the most famous vampire story of all time. Based on the 1897 novel by Bram Stoker, the play was adapted by Hamilton Deane and John L Balderston and first presented in 1929, starring Bela Lugosi as the mysterious Count Dracula.
The Ventura College production of this classic story will begin with a free Preview Performance on Thursday, November 8 at 8pm, and the production will be performed in the Ventura College Main Theatre on Friday, November 9 at 8pm, Saturday, November 10 at 8pm, and Sunday, November 11 at 3pm. Performances will continue on Friday, November 16 at 8pm, Saturday, November 17 at 8pm, and Sunday, November 18 at 3pm.
Tickets, which are $9.00 general admission and $7.00 for students, staff, and seniors, are available at the door prior to each performance.
The cast of Dracula includes Ventura College students Kevin Bass (Ventura), Erica Larson (Oxnard), TJ Mora (Oxnard), John O’Grady (Ventura), Elise Sinklier (Ventura), Luis Soto (Ventura), Travis Winterstein (Oxnard), and Josh Zelman (Camarillo).
The famous story of the vampire who needs the blood of others to survive, and Van Helsing’s valiant crusade to destroy him, creates a disturbing paradox between modern day skepticism and traditional superstition, leaving its audience uneasy, and wondering what might be lurking in the darker spaces of our lives.
