| Ramiro Sanchez has been appointed Executive Vice President for Student Learning at Ventura College, effective January 2, 2007 after serving in that position at Oxnard College from July 1, 2002. Mr. Sanchez served as Dean for Liberal Education at Oxnard from January 2001 until his appointment at Executive Vice President.
Mr. Sanchez worked as an administrator at Santa Barbara City College for more than 8-1/2 years, serving as Dean of Academic Affairs and Educational Programs.
A native of Texas, he earned his Bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Howard Payne University and his Master’s degree from East Texas State University. He also served as Division Chair of Math and Science at El Paso Community College District for six years. Prior to teaching at the community college, he taught mathematics at high school districts in El Paso, Dallas and Mesquite, Texas.
EVP Sanchez has already been participating in some campus activities, including the Annual Holiday Party and the Arts & Sciences Lecture Series Task Force. He is just getting settled in his new office, in preparation for the Spring 2007 semester.
