VENTURA COLLEGE PRESENTS
FACULTY GUEST ARTIST MUSIC CONCERT SERIES
VENTURA: From October 9 through October 12, the Ventura College Music Department will host three musical events, featuring faculty and guest artists. All events will be held at the Ventura College Theatre and will begin at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $15 for general admission, $5 for students and seniors. There will be something for everyone!
Tuesday, Oct. 9: Grand Piano Soiree—An evening celebrating the glorious piano and the mastery of featured pianists including Ventura College faculty Fern Fay, Ruth Johnson and Miquel Del Aguila, and guest pianists Miriam Arcihea, Hiromi Tilsner, and Newton Friedman.
Wednesday, Oct. 10: O Powers Electronic Music - "Soundwaves" a concert
of electronic and electro-acoustic music. Dr. Powers will perform live works using laptop computer, virtual synthesizers, and the classic electronic instrument known as the theremin, in addition to recorded works. Dr. Powers' music explores the aesthetic dimension of music that appears to originate from distant worlds, and this concert will attempt to take the listener to new realms of sensation.
Friday, Oct. 12: Ventura College Woodwind Quintet – Ventura College faculty Carol Lockhart, David Nicholson, and Jon Titmus with guest artists will perform great master works for woodwind quintets and will feature Francis Poulenc’s expressive sextet for Piano and Woodwind Quintet.
