The Ventura College Foundation, in partnership with Ventura College Community Education, has announced a new program of Military Appreciation Grants for short-term classes, workshops and seminars offered through Ventura College Community Education. Eligible grant recipients include current or former military personnel, along with spouses and children.
The grant will fund the enrollment fee for one class this spring through Ventura College Community Education on a first-come, first-serve basis. Community Education provides lifelong learning opportunities on weekends and evenings on a wide variety of topics including: Introduction to Fly Fishing, Basic Landscape Design, Swedish Massage Therapy Workshop, Fiction Lovers' Book Club, Salsa Dancing, Sweets from Greece, Beginning Conversational Polish, and nearly 180 others. Community Education classes do not carry college credits. The full schedule may be viewed online at www.communityed.venturacollege.edu.
"Community Education is all about enhancing the quality of life." notes Karen Gorback, Assistant Dean for Community and Economic Development. "We are grateful to the Ventura College Foundation for showing their appreciation to the men and women in the military, as well as their families, by sponsoring this unique, lifelong learning opportunity."
Individuals who would like to attend a Community Education class this spring with a Military Appreciation Grant should apply in person, with appropriate identification, at the Community Education office located at 71 Day Road, Monday through Friday between the hours of 8 am -- 5 pm. While the grant will cover the cost of most classes, it cannot cover online learning, tours/trips, or Pharmacy Technician training. In addition, it will not cover the optional material fees, which vary from class to class.
