The Ventura College Dance Department Presents
“Break on Through” a student produced rock and roll dance concert
BREAK ON THROUGH addresses the age-old struggle between parent and teenager. Through dance the Ventura College Dance Department performers will present the story of a young girl’s dilemma: whether to follow the wishes of her heart while struggling with her parents’ dreams for her. BREAK ON THROUGH will please all dance lovers with a full range of genre, including ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, and ballroom. And for the rock and roll enthusiasts, the performance will be set to classic rock and roll music and will feature Ventura Idol Aaron VanGundy.
This original dance production is the artistic creation of all the students in Dance 30, a course offered at Ventura College that gives students real experience in choreography and performance. BREAK ON THROUGH is directed by Becky Marzec Contreras, in conjunction with student director Lindsay Makelburg.
BREAK ON THROUGH will be at the main theater at Ventura College on Friday May 4th and Saturday May 5th at 8:00 pm and on Sunday May 6th will present a 3:00 pm matinee performance. All tickets at the door will be $12.00. Pre-sale tickets are $10.00 for general admission, and $8:00 for students, seniors, and faculty members.
