A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum
Auditions Scheduled at Ventura College
VENTURA: The Ventura College Opera & Musical Theatre is seeking singers, actors, and dancers for its Spring 2007 production of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Auditions will be held Friday, November 17, 7:00 to 10:00 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Sunday, November 19, 12 to 3:00 p.m. in the Ventura College Music Department, Room G133, in the east wing of the Theater Building, 4700 Loma Vista Road, between Ashwood Street and Day Road.
Come prepared to sing something from the show or another musical. Bring sheet music and wear clothing and footwear appropriate for a dance audition. Bio and head shot is requested. Previous dance experience is not required. An accompanist will be provided.

A cast reading will take place on Wednesday, December 13, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Rehearsals begin January 3, 2007. Performance dates are March 16 - 25, 2007.
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum will be directed by Mel Swope. The winner of two Golden Globe Awards, and four Emmy Award Nominations, Mr. Swope produced and directed the award winning television series “Fame” and “Partridge Family”. He also directed Noye’s Fludde, West Side Story, A Chorus Line, and Cabaret for Ventura College.
Faculty members from Ventura College serving in other capacities are Dr. Burns Taft, musical director/conductor and Linda Ottsen, producer.
