Applications are being accepted for the 4th annual Henry Schwab Ventura County Violin Competition. This exciting competition is open to young violin and viola players up to 25 years of age. Sponsored by a grant from the Schwab Charitable Fund, this competition encourages young musicians and furthers their musical education.
A total of $3,000 in prize money will be awarded to contestants who compete in the following events: 1) preliminary audition on February 5, 2011, 9 a.m., Guthrie Hall, Ventura College. Four candidates will be selected, each of whom will receive $250.00, and 2) the four finalists will then compete on June 18, 2011, at 8 p.m. at Community Presbyterian Church, 1555 Poli St., Ventura, accompanied by the Ventura College Symphony Orchestra. The finalist will be honored by playing his or her concerto selection at a later date with the Ventura College Symphony Orchestra, directed by Professor Robert Lawson. An application is attached.
