VENTURA COLLEGE
OFFERS “TEACHING ART & CREATIVITY”
VENTURA: Ventura College is offering a two day, hands-on workshop for teachers, artists and others, called Teaching Art and Creativity. This one unit meets January 26 and 27, from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. in room H-1 on the Ventura College campus on Telegraph Road. The course is IDS V88C, section number 32268. Registration continues through January 19, online at http://students.vcccd.edu/webstar_intro.htm and in person at the college Admissions and Records Office.
Sponsored by Ventura College in association with the Cultural Affairs Division of the City of San Buenaventura and the Ventura Unified School District, this exciting, transformative workshop weekend for artists, teachers and others provides attendees with ways to strengthen their creative voice and personal point of view in the arts; to deepen their understanding of the arts and their own creative process; to apply meaningful strategies to use multiple arts disciplines in their classroom or studio program and to link their teaching to the California State Visual & Performing Arts Content Standards, K-12.
This Friday and Saturday “hands-on” workshop includes visual arts, dance, performance art, and other art forms. Participants will explore their own creativity and ideas connected the Content Standards to classroom subjects such as language arts or history/social studies as well as to a variety of arts disciplines. Participants will also become familiar with the VAPA Content Standard “strands” and discuss approaches that apply to the arts and to student learning in multiple content areas.
