| VENTURA: The Ventura College Theatre will be transformed into Mother Goose Land when the Ventura College Opera & Musical Theatre (VCOMT) presents A Time Out of Rhyme, by Randall K. West, Kenneth Helms and Justin Hill.
A Time Out of Rhyme, with a cast of more than 35 performing as well-known children’s characters opens Friday, April 4 at 8 p.m. and runs for two weekends: Fridays and Saturdays, April 4, 5, 11, and 12 at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays, April 6 and 13 at 2:00 p.m.
Set in Mothergooseland, a land "full of color, with rhymes and song and love and laughter," A Time Out of Rhyme joins Mother Goose, Mistress Mary Quite Contrary, Little Jack Horner, and a host of characters from literature, story and rhyme, as they defend Mother Goose Land from the desperate villain Captain Hook. With a professional orchestra and a wonderful cast, this full length (two act), award-winning, musical is great for families and children of all ages.
A Time Out of Rhyme is funded in part by grants from Helen Yunker and the Ventura College Foundation.
Tickets are $10 for students and seniors, $15 for general admission and may be purchased online at www.tix.com, or through www.operaworkshop.info.

The Mission of VCOMT is to:
Educate students from Ventura College and the community at large in opera and musical theater,
Contribute to the cultural enhancement of the City by exposing audiences to these art-forms through performance-oriented programs of opera and musical theater,
Establish a high standard of artistic excellence, by featuring professional artists and staff in direct collaboration with the students,
Provide program material which encourages multi-cultural themes and diversity for the students and for the community audience, and to
Provide school outreach programs of opera and musical theater for youth.
