COMMUNITY EDUCATION OFFERS HOLIDAY TREATS
Ventura College Community Education is serving up a tasty variety of new classes, seminars and workshops this winter for individuals desiring learning opportunities for both personal enrichment and professional development.
Celtic Cuisine will be held at Garman’s Restaurant and Irish Pub on Tuesday, November 9, from 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm in Santa Paula, featuring instruction on how to make Irish potato pancakes, Irish soup, and shepherd’s pie, accompanied by a variety of Irish beers. Over 21 please.
Grandparents Raising Grandchildren is a seminar scheduled for Saturday, November 6, from 9:00 am – noon in Ventura, which will focus on the joys and challenges for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren, especially during the holiday season.
For individuals who want to learn how to tweet, blog and use other social media, Social Networking for Beginners will be conducted on Saturday, November 20 from 9:00 am – noon in Ventura.
Diamonds and Gemstones 101 will be conducted by Graduate Gemologist Kara Erickson at Jewelry Couture in Ventura on Wednesday, November 3, from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm.
All nonprofit organizations will want to send their volunteer coordinator to Volunteer Superstars on Saturday and Sunday, November 13 and 14, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm or Tuesday and Thursday, January 11 and 13, from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. This new training program will be conducted by professional volunteer trainer Tiffany Hill in Ventura.
Additional personal enrichment classes include Holiday Table Runners, Nightclub Two-Step, Knock Off Your Favorite Pair of Pants, Beginning Mosaic Art, Floral Design for Beginners, Introduction to Chess, I’ve Always Wanted to Play the Harp, and Dogs and Cats and Horses -- Oh My!
Professional development classes beginning this winter include Sales Drama 101, LEEDŽ Green Associate Preparation, Medical Terminology Boot Camp, Introduction to Veterinary Assistant Training, Physical Therapy Aide Training, How to Become a Professional Organizer, Start Your Own Pet Sitting Business, Moneymaking Using Your Home Computer, Online Spanish for Health Care Workers, and many others.
Community Education classes are self-supporting and do not confer college credit. Enroll early to ensure a seat in the class of your choice.
