On Thursday, December 9, 2010, the 15-member Ventura College Jazz Band, directed by Leslie Drayton, will present its December concert entitled, “Crossroad Decisions” – a celebration of choices, forward vision and commitment. The concert is a culmination of the semester’s work and will feature a variety of selections from the band’s vast library representing the American Songbook, Jazz Standards, Original Compositions, Neo-Soul, and Hip-Hop. This concert will also feature two guest artists performing with the band. Saxophonist, Randall Willis, a favored guest of the band, will return once again. Mr. Willis is quite active on the Los Angeles jazz scene as bandleader, educator, and member of the Gerald Wilson Orchestra. Pianist, Reggy Woods, is currently a senior in the Jazz Studies program at California State University at Los Angeles and is a ‘star on the rise’ in the Los Angeles jazz community. The performance will begin at 8:00 p.m. on December 9, 2010, and will take place in Ventura College’s Guthrie Hall. Dancers are welcome. Tickets are $10 general admission, and $5 for students and seniors.
