VENTURA COLLEGE OFFERING
LATE START SPRING CLASSES
High School students can enroll for free
VENTURA: Ventura College is still offering a variety of classes for the Spring semester, although the semester started in January. Called “late-start” courses because they start after the semester begins or “short term” classes because they do not take the full 18 weeks to complete. Many of these classes are transferable to the UC and CSU four year institutions. Late start and short term courses are designed to assist students who need classes that do not take the full 18 weeks, such as high school students, including seniors who might need a few extra credits or a specific class in order to complete their graduation requirements.
Ventura College is still offering more than 50 classes, ranging from 1 unit to 5 units, and starting each week from February 23 through April 16. Late start and short term class listings are available online at www.venturacollege.edu or by contacting the counseling office at 805-654-6448.
Other courses available include Child Development, training in the Microsoft programs Powerpoint, Excel, Word and Access, Web design classes, and introductory courses in GIS, Psychology, and Theatre Performance. A wide range of English as a Second Language classes are offered in Santa Paula and Ventura. One often challenging high school graduation requirement, American Government, is offered beginning March 10, and completing two months later, just in time for high school graduations. High school students who are California residents pay no enrollment fees at any California Community College. The Auto Department is offering the ASE Certification Program as well.
For additional information, please contact Alisa Moore, Ventura College Public Information Officer 805-654-6462.
