Hoping to make college available for more students, the three Ventura County Community Colleges, Moorpark, Oxnard and Ventura, are now offering a payment plan for enrollment fees. Even though California Community College fees are already the lowest in the country, and will be reduced to $20 per unit for residents effective with the Spring 2007 semester, many students may still need time to pay.
Under details of the plan, called eCashier, students can select the payment plan option on-line right after registering for classes. The plan costs just $15 per semester. No interest or other fees are charged. Information on eCashier is on the district's website at www.vcccd.edu, click on Student Central. Each college student business office also can provide information on eCashier.
Spring 2007 registration begins November 13th for continuing VCCCD students and goes on through January when full semester classes begin. Full semester Monday-Friday classes begin January 8th. Saturday classes begin January 13th. In addition to the full-semester day and evening classes, the colleges offer weekend classes, short-term classes, one-day seminars and tele-video and on-line classes. There are hundreds of classes that begin in February and selected classes that begin in March. The complete list of spring classes for each college is on-line at www.vcccd.edu , or www.moorparkcollege.edu , www.oxnardcollege.edu , and www.venturacollege.edu
The three VCCCD colleges serve about 30,000 students each semester. Beyond low fees, community colleges offer small classes of under 50 students per class, occupational curriculums in many areas and transfer programs for many state and private universities. Child-care, financial aid and scholarships are available at each of the campuses. As a matter of fact, the three colleges awarded more than $500,000 in scholarships and $17 million in state and federal financial aid to students of all ages for the 2005-06 academic year. There are still funds available for the 2006-07 academic year.
Admission to any California community college is open to anyone 18 years of age or older, or anyone, regardless of age, who is capable of benefiting from instruction. Students who have not yet graduated from high school can enroll at any Ventura County Community College concurrently and will not be required to pay the $20 per unit enrollment fee. Other fees apply.
