VENTURA COLLEGE PRESENTS AN EVENING OF GILBERT AND SULLIVAN OPERETTA SCENES
A Topsy-Turvy Affair!
On Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 8 p.m., Ventura College’s Opera and Musical Theater Workshop will be offering a no frills scenes program of Gilbert and Sullivan’s most favorite scenes from their three most beloved operettas.
Selections from H.M.S. Pinafore, Pirates of Penzance, and the Mikado will keep the audience laughing. You will hear many familiar numbers, including “When a foeman bares his steel,” “Willow, Tit-Willow,” and “From a cheap and chippy chopper on a big black block!”
In his first semester as Director of the Opera and Musical Theater Workshop at Ventura College, Brent Wilson envisions this as a chance for Ventura College students to explore performing opera and musical theater repertoire. Many students have never had the opportunity to perform in such an environment, and this workshop gives excellent opportunities to grow as an acting singer.
Join us! The event will take place at the H.P. Wright Library, 57 Day Road, Ventura. FREE Admission.. |
