Ventura College is proud to announce the grand opening of its new Welcome Center and Student Lounge located along "Pirate's Walk" next to Administration and the Cafeteria. The community is invited to celebrate these two new spaces for Ventura College students and prospective students on Thursday, November 3, 2011, from 3:30-5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.
The Welcome Center provides a gateway to Ventura College for prospective, new, and returning students. Welcome Center staff and Student Ambassadors are available to assist with questions and needs regarding enrollment, education, and student services. Staff and Ambassadors take a comprehensive and personal approach in delivering an excellent entry experience. The Welcome Center also schedules and conducts campus tours and coordinates high school and community outreach activities. The new Ventura College Welcome Center is funded through a Title V Cooperative Grant.
The new Student Lounge provides a location for students to study, rest, and interact. The Student Lounge is funded through Ventura College Associated Students. The student government representatives of 2010/11 academic years were the leaders in working with architectural designers to create a contemporary, relaxing, and functional space for students to utilize and enjoy. The lounge is the first phase of a three-phase project to renovate and remodel the student government offices and meeting spaces.
