Add or Drop a Class
Classes may be registered, added and dropped online using WebSTAR Online http://students.vcccd.edu/.
-
Outstanding financial obligations will result in a hold being placed on your student records that will prevent all registration, drop and withdrawal activity
You will be required to log in to WebSTAR using your USER ID and PIN number. The USER ID is the same as your Student ID number (starts with 900), or you may use your social security number for your first log in. The PIN number will be your six digit date of birth for first log in, and you will immediately be prompted to change it to a personal six character PIN of your choice.
If you receive an error message advising that your PIN is disabled, and you have an email address on file with the college, you may use the automated PIN RESET function of WebSTAR. Click on the PIN RESET button, complete the questions and submit. Providing your answers match the information on file with the college, you will receive a temporary PIN by email within 15 minutes. Please activate the temporary PIN immediately upon receipt, as it will expire within 24 hours of being sent.
Adding Classes
Open classes may be added without an instructor’s permission.
Closed classes may be added in two ways:
1. The class may offer the option of waitlisting. Students on waitlists are automatically registered in the class if a seat opens up. You will be advised of your position on the waitlist when you select that option.
NOTE: If you are still on a waitlist as of the first day the class meets, and you still
want to add the class, you must attend the first class meeting. Providing there are
seats available, the instructor will be adding students in priority order from the wait-
list on the first day only. You will be given an add authorization code by the instructor.
You must first drop your self from the waitlist, then add yourself using the add
authorization code that will enable you to add the class online.
2. To add a closed class for which you are not waitlisted, attend the first meeting of the class. Students who are on a waitlist for the class will be added first. The instructor may decide to admit additional students. If admitted, you will be given an add authorization code that will enable you to add the class online.
All drops are subject to the deadlines posted for each class. To access the deadlines, click here http://students.vcccd.edu/calendar.htm. Enter the CRN for a class and click the SEARCH button, then click on the underlined CRN number and scroll down to see the deadline dates. If you drop a class after the refund deadline, you are held responsible for all fees owed.
It is the students’ responsibility to drop themselves from classes, and to verify that the drops are successfully processed. For this reason, you should always print out a copy of the drop confirmation notice. If the class you attempted to drop is not listed on the confirmation notice, return to the Add/Drop screen and re-submit the drop request.
Classes dropped in error may be reinstated; please contact the Admissions and Records Office at vcadmissions@vcccd.edu for assistance.
