Staff Innovation Grants
The Staff Innovation Grants provide an opportunity for faculty and staff to augment their professional development opportunities by attending conferences, experimenting with new technology or providing additional materials for their classrooms, all designed to enhance student learning.
Staff Innovation Grants are offered by the Ventura College Foundation to fund innovative projects, novel approaches and creative activities at Ventura College. This year, the Foundation is accepting applications in the following areas:
Technology: Software and equipment.
Professional Development: Seminars, conferences, symposiums, organizing conferences or training programs, educational courses (registration fees only.)
Programmatic: Student services, instructional materials, field trips, student/retention.
Community: Campus involvement, customer service, lecture series, educational fairs.
Who may apply?
All Ventura College faculty and staff whom the college currently employs and continue to be employed during the academic year are eligible to apply.
What is the application deadline?
Applications will be distributed in February and will be e-mailed to all Ventura College staff. Completed applications should reach the Ventura College Foundation office no later than Thursday, April 10, 2008 by 3:00PM. Incomplete or applications received after the deadline will not be considered.
When will recipients be notified and when will the funds be available?
Grant recipients will be announced and funds will be available in July 2008. Generally, funds will be disbursed as needed for the project, according to the time frame proposed in the application.
When should the project take place?
Activities may take place during the fall, spring and/or summer semesters, 2008-2009. However, all expenditures should be made by June 30, 2009.
How much can I apply for?
The maximum that will be awarded is $2,500. Applicants are urged to apply for no more than they actually need and to carefully work out a realistic budget.
How will the recipients be selected?
A committee appointed by the Foundation's Board of Directors will evaluate all applications received by the deadline date. If the committee has specific questions, the applicant will be contacted. The Ventura College Foundation reserves the right to decline any grant application. to decide who will receive grants, and to require amendment or compliance restrictions as deemed necessary.
What should the application contain?
To be considered, the application must contain the original copy of:
- an application form and an attached vendor estimate is requesting an equipment purchase
All materials should be typed.
It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all application requirements and deadlines are met. Incomplete applications and applications received after April 10, 2008 at 3:00PM will not be considered.
What follow up is required?
Grant recipients will be required to complete the Ventura College Foundation Grant Evaluation Report at the completion of the project, and no later than June 30, 2009. This report is helpful to the Ventura College Foundation in evaluating your grant should you decide to apply for funding next year. Recipients may also be invited to make a presentation about the results to the Ventura College Foundation Board of Directors. Ventura College Foundation reserves the right to publicize grant activities and results.
