Work Experience

Ventura College's academic departments offer college cooperative work experience internships within the disciplines listed below. College credits are available for students who wish an internship opportunity, based on paid employment or unpaid work experience, which is directly related to their educational or occupational goals. Students who are interested in an internship will find the appropriate course description (see V95 and/or V96) under the discipline listing in the Schedule of Classes.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

• Eligibility:  Must be enrolled in 7 units which may include work experience/internship units
• Attend:  One mandatory orientation meeting. New first-time students only.
• Credit:  1 unit for 75 hours of paid work. 1 unit for 60 hours of unpaid/volunteer work.
• Internship:  Maximum of 4 units per semester for a total of 16 units.
• Cooperative Work Experience:  Maximum of 3 units per semester for a total of 6 units.

Work experience offers the following 2 courses that are not related to college majors. Internship offers the following 2 courses that do relate to a student's field of study. These are designed to provided experience for all other disciplines not listed below.

WEXP V95 Work Experience I
1.00 - 3.00 Units
Co-requisite:  Enrolled in a minimum of seven (7) units to include work experience. Field trips will be required. May be taken for a maximum of 2 times, not to exceed 6 units. Offered on a credit/no credit basis only. Transfer Credit:  CSU; credit limitations - see counselor.
