Transfer Admissions Guarantee

Following an approved Transfer Admissions Guarantee provides a direct and certain transition to California State University Northridge (CSUN). The agreement guarantees your admission to CSUN in the semester you specify.

Each Transfer Guarantee is designed to provide you a clear route to complete both General Education requirements and the lower division requirements for your major. Completing the agreement at your community college will permit you to earn a CSUN degree without the need to go back and take additional prerequisite coursework.

Following a Transfer Guarantee Agreement also gives you a head start in your major by providing an opportunity to learn what your upper division coursework will entail, offering you a chance to get to know your major advisor, and giving you an invitation to attend campus events for students in your major.

Students completing a Transfer Guarantee will join an entering cohort of students who will have a clear sequence of courses that permit them to complete their bachelor’s degree in a timely manner.

Am I eligible?

A Transfer Guarantee can be established by California residents who have completed at least 15 transferable units and who have not previously been disqualified from attending a California State University campus.

How does a Transfer Guaranteed work?

  1. Obtain a copy of the Transfer Guarantee for your major and contact the Transfer Center or a counselor at Ventura College.

  2. Meet with your Ventura College counselor and complete both the Transfer Guarantee Agreement and the General Education or IGETC certification plan.

  3. Once your Ventura College counselor has signed the guaranteed and either a California State University transfer General Education certification or IGETC plan, submit them to California State University Northridge. Once they have been processed, you will receive an approved copy for your records.

  4. Successfully complete the coursework and any other conditions specified in your Transfer Guarantee Agreement and California State University General Education or IGETC plan.

  5. Submit your application for the semester specified in your Agreement during the period that the campus is accepting transfer applications.

  6. Follow registration instructions and join the nearly 28,000 students on the CSUN campus.
