- ABC-CLIO eBooks
- This database provides access to electronic books in areas as varied as history, business, science, popular culture, and current events.
- Britannica en Espanol

- Britannica Online
- This database is more than just the online equivalent of the print Encyclopedia Britannica. This resource also contains links to helpful websites and numerous images and video clips on just about any subject.
- Country Watch
- Use this database to find up-to-date and reliable information on the politics, history and geopolitical intelligence of all countries in the world.
- CQ
- CQ Historical Documents: This database contains thousands of full-text primary source documents from a variety of sources on topics as diverse as education, law, popular culture and social issues. Note: The library currently only has access from 1972 (when the print version of this resource began) to 2004.
- CQ Researcher: This award-winning database is the online equivalent of the weekly publication of the same name. It is an excellent place to look for impartial and extensive reporting on controversial and complex issues. This database is a great resource to use especially for speech and debate classes. CQ Researcher provides full-text access to reports from Oct. 1991 to the present.
- EBSCO
- Academic Search Premier (ASP): Similar to ProQuest Research Library, Academic Search Premier is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary library database that provides access to full-text articles on just about any topic imaginable. ASP contains access to over 4,600 periodicals, including almost 3,900 peer-reviewed journals, some going back to the mid-1970s or earlier.
- America: History and Life with Full Text: The best database to use to cover the history and culture of the United States and Canada, from prehistory to the present. This database indexes over 1,700 journals from 1955 to the present with full text access to more than 200 journals and almost 100 books.
- Book Index with Reviews: Use this extensive database when looking for trustworthy and reliable book reviews. NOTE: Contains access to only limited scholarly, peer reviewed book reviews.
- Business Source Elite: This database provides full text access to over 1,000 business publications, with access to some journals going back as far as 1985. Also included within this sources are more than 10,000 company profiles from Datamonitor are also included.
- Consumer Health Complete: This database is good to use when looking for easy to read and understand health related topics and information. The database provides information from all areas of health and wellness ranging from mainstream medicine to "complementary, holistic and integrated medicine." Consumer Health Complete also includes "the Clinical Reference System and the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which provides access to up-to-date, concise and clinically relevant" books about prescription drugs.
- ERIC: Developed and maintained by the U.S. Department of Education, ERIC is the preeminent database for any topic related to education. The EBSCO version of this database includes access to 1.3 million records and full-text access to over 300,000 full-text reports and articles contained within ERIC going back to 1966.
- Funk & Wagnalls New World Encyclopedia: The online equivalent of the "funky" titled print encyclopedia of the same name.
- GreenFile: This database provides full-text access to a collection of almost 5,000 sources "covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more."
- Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition: This database is designed for nursing and allied health students and provides access to almost "550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines. Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition also features the Lexi-PAL Drug Guide, which covers 1,300 generic drug patient education sheets with more than 4,700 brand names."
- MagillOnLiterature Plus: This database provides author biographies, plot summaries and character overviews of famous works of literature. This resource is the online equivalent of the print Masterplots series.
- MEDLINE: Developed and maintained by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE is the most comprehensive and authoritative database for information on medicine, nursing, health, "pre-clinical sciences, and much more." Contains links to selected full-text sources available with the EBSCO family of databases.
- Newspaper Source Plus: This database provides access to more than 860 full-text newspapers, including the Ventura County Star. Also, this database includes almost 1 million television and radio news transcripts.
- Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection: According to EBSCO, "this is the world's largest full text psychology database offering full text coverage for nearly 400 journals." This resource provides access to journal articles on all "topics in emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational & experimental methods."
- Religion and Philosophy Collection: This database is the one to use when researching topics such as eschatology, "world religions, major denominations, biblical studies, religious history, epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy." This resource contains access to over 300 full text journals.
- Gale
- Biography In Context: This database combines award-winning biographies along with full-text articles from hundreds of periodicals. Search for people based on one or more personal facts such as birth and death year, nationality, ethnicity, occupation or gender, or combine criteria to create a highly-targeted custom search.
- Gale Literary Index: While Literature Resource Center provides full-text access to many of the most popular and often-searched authors and works of fiction, use the Gale Literary Index to search comprehensively for references to a particular author or work of fiction in all print-based Gale literary publications such as Twentieth Century Literary Criticism, Nineteenth Century Literary Criticism, Contemporary Literary Criticism, etc.
- Gale Virtual Reference Library: This database contains the full text of hundreds of subject specific reference books, which contain close to three-quarters of a million full text scholarly articles that originally appeared in print reference books. Note: The VC Library owns only some of the reference books included in this database in print form.
- Literature Resource Center: This database provides full-text access to biographies, bibliographies,and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline. The database covers more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers, with in-depth coverage of 2,500 of the most-studied authors.
- Opposing Viewpoints In Context: This database is an excellent place to begin one's research on any current event or controversial topic. Opposing Viewpoints includes opinion pieces (i.e. viewpoint essays), magazine, newspaper and journal articles, entries from reference works (such as encyclopedias and dictionaries), statistics, images, scholarly websites, plus much more.
- Internet Public Library (IPL2)
- This search engine is to the internet what the library catalog is to books. Use this site to find scholarly and reputable websites that you can use in your papers and research assignments.
- JSTOR
- This database contains the full-text of hundreds of scholarly journals. The journals are available in full-text from the publication was first published (sometimes going back over 200 years!) up until five years from the present day. For recent journal articles, use ProQuest. JSTOR is a great place for historical research or literary criticism research.
- Ovid Nursing Journals
- This is a database specifically designed for nursing, medical, and pharmaceutical research. Ovid provides full-text access to over 50 of the most respected and important nursing journals including AJN and Nursing.
- ProQuest
- Hoover's Company Records: This database is the source to use for anyone in need of reliable information of major American and international business corporations. Included within this database are "profiles of more than 40,000 companies, 600 industries, and 225,000 key executives." The database provides an overview of a company, its history, board members, products and competitors, historical and current financials and much more.
- ProQuest Health and Medical Complete: This database provides access to over 1900 journals-with many of these available full-text-from the nursing, medical and allied health fields.
- ProQuest Newspapers: Use this database to find information solely from within newspapers from across the globe. Provides access to over 1200 newspapers, including such papers of record as The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Chicago Tribune, The Times of London, etc. NOTE: ProQuest Research Library includes all the sources found within ProQuest Newspapers so there is no need to search the same topic in both databases.
- PsycARTICLES: Developed by the American Psychological Association (APA), this is the premier database to use when searching for full-text articles from 63 different peer-reviewed psychology journals published by the APA.
- Research Library: Similar to EBSCO's Academic Search Prermier, ProQuest Research Library is a comprehensive multi-disciplinary library database that provides access to full-text articles on just about any topic imaginable. ProQuest contains access to over 4,000 periodicals (newspapers, magazines and academic journals), some going back to the 1980s. Don't forget to also try limiting your results to scholarly articles to find the best resources available.
- SpringerLink
- SpringerLink contains the full text of over 25,00 books available entirely online. These books, covering areas such as nursing, biomedical sciences, engineering, computer science, and chemistry, can be read by more than one person at a time. Entire book chapters can also be downloaded in PDF format. You can also search for books in our online catalog. In addition, you can also access thousands of other articles, book chapters, textbooks, medical and biomedical protocols, and reference texts for free. Look for a green box next to items that can be accessed full-text.
