Mainstream Computer Program
Through
the coordinated efforts of the Educational
Assistance Center (EAC) coordinator, Nancy Latham, and the High Tech
Center for Students with Disabilities former coordinator, Dee Konczal,
and current coordinator, Steve Turner, Ventura College has implemented
assistive technology for students with disabilities through the Mainstream
Computer Program.
The Ventura College Assistive Technology Training Center (ATTC) for Students with Disabilities has been vivaciously growing since September of 1986. Dee Konczal, an Assistive Computer Technical Specialist, has played a major role in developing it into a very diverse center. The HTC has 20 computers and offers five Adapted Computer Technology classes. They include three classes for the visually impaired, one of which deals with Braille, and one Learning Skills writing class in which software programs are used to develop writing skills and edit work.
Jessica has been certified and now is able to do her homework and research
on the Mainstream computer in the Library.

Fabian is busy on an assignment in the Business Department where Mainstream
computers are available for certified students.
