1. I want to get started at Ventura College. What's my first step?
Complete and submit a college application to the Admissions Office. We encourage all students new to the college experience to attend matriculation activities. For a current schedule of activities, call (805) 648-6493 or check the matriculation activities schedule in the class schedule. If you attend Matriculation, you may be eligible to register early and earn College credit!
Back to Top2. I need to make an appointment with a counselor. How do I know who to see?
You're always welcome to see any of our counselors, however, each counselor does have specific majors that they specialize in. Make sure to tell us if you would like to see a specific counselor or you have a major or specific area of interest. Schedule your appointment early since appointments are limited at the beginning and end of each semester and during the Summer.
3. How long are the counseling appointments?
Thirty minute appointments are available.
4. When do I need a counseling appointment?
An appointment is necessary for the following services:
Graduation application, letters of recommendation, probation clearances, degree and course planning, career/major exploration, when experiencing academic difficulty, and personal counseling.
5. I work alot. What hours are counseling appointments available?
Appointments are generally scheduled every half hour during the hours our office is open: Monday - Thursday, 8:00am - 7:00pm and Friday, 8:00am - 3:00pm.
Counseling schedule is subject to change.
6. I'm ready to graduate! What is the process?

7. I don't need an appointment, but I have a few questions and I need to see a counselor now. What should I do?
Drop by counseling is available daily on a limited basis. For specific hours and counselor availability, contact or stop by the Counseling Department at (805) 654-6448.
8. I'm a middle school or high school student and I'd like to take a class at Ventura College. How do I get started?
First of all, be sure to fill out an Application for Admission (obtainable online or in the Admissions and Records Office), obtain a Petition for Special Admission Packet, from your school or download from the website. Complete all forms and bring them to registration (see calendar for your registration day).

Yes, visit our Career Center located in building SSC. The Center offers career assessments such as: interest inventories, publications and research materials.
