1. I want to get started at Ventura College. What's my first step?
Back to TopWe encourage all students new to the college experience to attend Matriculation Activities. For a current schedule of activities, call (805) 648-8936 or check the Matriculation Activities schedule in the class schedule. If you attend Matriculation, you may be eligible to register early and earn College credit!
2. I'm a continuing student and I need to make an appointment with a counselor. How do I know who to see?
Back to TopYou're always welcome to see any of our counselors at any time. However, each counselor does have specific majors that they specialize in. Make sure to tell us if you would like to see a specific counselor or you have a major or specific area of interest.
3. How long are the counseling appointments?

4. I work a lot. What hours are counseling appointments available?
Back to TopAppointments are generally scheduled every half hour during the hours our office is open: Monday - Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

7. I don't need an appointment, but I have a few questions and I need to see a counselor now. What should I do?
Back to TopCome in to Counseling and see a drop-by counselor. Drop-by hours are Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Hours are subject to change.
8. I'm a middle school or high school student and I'd like to take a class at Ventura College. How do I get started?
Back to TopFirst of all, be sure to fill out an Application for Admission (obtainable online, in the Schedule of Classes, or in the Admissions and Records Office. Next, obtain a Petition for Special Admission from your school and have your school and a Ventura College counselor approve it.
9. I'm considering changing my career or major. Do you have any tests I can take to tell me what career I might be suited for based on my interests?

10. How do I obtain an official transcript?
Back to TopTo order a copy of your Ventura College transcript, you must submit a written request to the Admissions and Records Office. Include the following information: your full name, all prior names, dat of birth, social security number, dates of attendance, very clear instructions as to where the transcript is to be sent, and the number of copies you are requesting. Make sure to sign your request. Transcripts will not be processed if you have outstanding fees or obligations to Ventura College.
11. How much do transcripts cost and how long does it take to obtain one?
The first two transcripts are free of charge. Subsequent requests are $3.00 for regular processing or $5.00 for rush processing. If you are requesting more than one copy, full fees apply to the first copy, then there is a $1.00 charge for each additional copy. Regular processing time is a minimum of two weeks and rush processing is two business days. Transcript fees must be paid before the request can be processed.Back to Top
